Recreating Mars

So for my final project I will just solely be focusing on mars while exploring different methods on creating the landscapes. So for this week I focused on recreating a picture from mars.

Color Corrected to Match
Original
I tried getting the shadows about right to match the lighting in both. Honestly the hardest part was finding the right shape of rocks, and I molded some clay pieces to try to match. Its not completely matched in rock shapes, but I believe it's close. I also use a wide angle lens with a deep depth of field to match the Viking camera.

I also thought about how different the scene would look with different depth of fields/focus and lighting conditions. So I did a series to see if there was any significant impact.
focus: foreground
 focus: middle ground
 focus: background

And here are different lighting conditions

Next week I will have a panorama done.
